The Decorah Republican - 1867
Wm W Moore died at his residence west of Decorah on Wednesday morning last. His age we do not learn.
Four years ago the deceased was one of the ablest bodied men in Winneshiek County. In response to one of the calls for troops he enlisted under Capt Burdick in the Sixth Iowa Cavalry. In undergoing the rigors of the service he contracted the disease which has carried him to the grave after enduring untold suffering. He was a man of strict probity of character - plain straight forward and always honorable. Enemies he had none - and friends many.
