FORMER PROFESSOR IN EASTERN SCHOOL BURIED AT SPILLVILLE

J.S. Mikesh Services at Saint Wenceslaus Church This Morning. Survived by Two Sisters, Brother.

James Stephen Mikesh, until last June, Chairman of the mathematics department of the Lawrenceville school, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, died Saturday morning at Mercer hospital at Lawrenceville after a brief illness. He was the victim of a stroke last Monday which left him partially paralyzed. His brother, Martin A. Mikesh, was with him at his death.

Born in 1882 on a farm in Spillville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Mikesh, and educated in his early years in Local school and at the Decorah institute. Mr. Mikesh later attended the University of Minnesota, where he graduated in 1908 with a B. A. degree. His major interest was then, as always, mathematics.

A Lawrenceville school publication said: Mr.Mikesh has been known far and wide as a stimulating and productive teacher.

He is survived by a brother, Martin A Mikesh of Lawrenceville and two sisters, Mrs. Emmma Mikesh Swella of Spillville, Mrs. Anna Kubish of Fort Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, February 2, at 10:00 o"clock at the Saint Wenceslaus church in Spillville with burial in the adjoining cemetery in the family lot. The Rev. J.P. Chihak will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Beckel, Mrs. Antoinette Schreidel; three brothers, Anton Mikesh, Adolph Mikesh and Joseph Mikesh.
