Mae Jean (Jeanne) Bohr, age 71, of Ossian, Iowa died suddenly on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Mae Jean (Wiltgen) Bohr was born on February 1, 1942, the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Wenthold) Wiltgen in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. Jeanne received her education at St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Ossian.

On November 16, 1963, Jeanne was united in marriage to Mel Bohr at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. They raised their family of five on the farm southwest of Castalia and retired to the town of Ossian in November, 1999.

Jeanne was a lifetime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the America Court #983, Silver Springs Golf and Country Club, and the Castalia area Tuesday club. She was a charter member of the Fun and Craft Club, a member of morning coffee group, and she was one of God’s Housekeepers. Jeanne enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Mel of 49 years; 5 children: Jill (Nick) Hittner of Urbandale, Tim Bohr of Castalia, Jackie (Tom) Hartman of Urbandale, Craig (Renee) Bohr of Castalia, and Terri Bohr of Grimes; 9 grandchildren: Jonathan, Rebecca, and Allison Hittner; Kayla, Zachary, and Joseph Hartman; and Cassidy, Alyssa, and Mitchell Bohr; her mother, Evelyn Wiltgen; 2 sisters: Rosalyn (James) DuRocher and Ellen Wiltgen; 2 brothers: Karl (Annette) Wiltgen and Jan (Patty) Wiltgen; a close uncle, Greg Wenthold, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Wiltgen; her mother and father-in law, Mary and Clem Bohr; a brother, Lee Wiltgen and a sister-in-law, Elaine Wiltgen.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 3-8 p.m. with a 3 p.m. Catholic Daughters Rosary and an 8 p.m. Parish Scripture Service at Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ossian, Iowa. There will also be a visitation one hour before Mass at the Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Friday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, Iowa with Monsignor Cletus Hawes as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian, Iowa.

Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ossian, Iowa is helping the family with the arrangements.
