Ole Stavnes

Funeral services were held at Ossian last week for Ole Stavnes, who passed away at Decorah hospital, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Einar Jorgenson was in charge of the rites; burial was in Hillside cemetery.

Ole Stavnes was born February 26, 1887 at Trondhjem, Norway, the son of John and Marit Stavnes. He was married to Miss Helga Peterson at Trondhjem on January 1, 1914.

He lived at Decorah on the Halvor Sersland farm, northeast of Ossian and on a farm in the Castalia area. He lived most of his life in Decorah.

He is survived by five children: Harold of Waterloo, Noble (Mrs. Phil Giesen) of Calmar, Myrtle and John of Castalia, and Sigurd of Timber Lake, South Dakota; seven brothers and one sister in Norway, and one sister, Mrs. Adolph Hanson at Rushford, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers.
