Lynne Henningsgaard

Lynne Henningsgaard, age 64, of Decorah died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah.
Lynne Marie (Hitesman) Henningsgaard was born October 25, 1948, the daughter of Robert and Marjorie (Dolton) Hitesman in Decorah. Lynne graduated from Decorah High School in 1967. She attended Airline School and then went to work for the FBI in Washington DC, working with fingerprints. She returned to Calmar in 1969 and went to work at Collins in Cedar Rapids. She married Roger Henningsgaard November 22, 1969 at the Calmar Lutheran Church in Calmar. Lynne attended Area One and took cosmetology classes and then to Minneapolis, MN for advanced hair cutting school. In 1975, they moved to Monona and she operated her own beauty shop, together they also taught dance classes through Northeast Iowa Community College in Monona, until they moved to Decorah in 1994. Together Roger and Lynne farmed, and she loved all the cows and calves, giving them all names over the years. Lynne was very artistic and did paintings on barn boards and canvas, creating crafts from gourds, leather and fur. When they were first married they would spend weekends on the river with friends. She enjoyed going antiquing and looking for jewelry finds and other goodies, finding pretty jewelry and rare and beautiful stones, and watching the jewelry network stations, flower gardening and canning produce from her vegetable garden, as well as feeding all sorts of birds at their home. She loved telling jokes and was a walking joke book. She loved to laugh. Lynne loved her husband, kids and grandkids. She loved spending time with her grandkids and tickling them. She was the kindest person and was always thinking about everyone else. She was always picking up things for everyone. She made a killer carrot cake!
