Lori Mae Soukup
Funeral services for Lori Mae Soukup, 37, were held Saturday, October 26, 1996 at 11 a.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church, Decorah with the Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating. LuAnn Vick was soloist accompanied by organist Alan Sensor. Joan Schissel was cantar and lector was Eva Pecinovsky. French and Balik Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Calmar.
Lori was born October 5, 1959 in Decorah to Harleth and Dolores (Rothmeyer) Reisner. She died October 22, 1996 on 12124 Apple Road, Postville, as a result of a car-school bus accident.
She was a graduate of South Winn High School. Lori married Leonard R. Soukup May 27, 1989 at Calmar. She worked as a nurses aid at Barthel Eastern Star Home, Decorah and at Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John.
She is survived by her husband Leonard of Decorah, daughter Veronica of Postville and step-daughter Nicole of Decorah; step-mother Madonna Reisner of Calmar; father-in-law Leonard J. Soukup of Cresco; 5 brothers, Dennis Reisner of Cedar Rapids, Harley Reisner of Marion, Michael Reisner of Waukon, Terry Reisner and Brian Reisner, both of Calmar; and 5 sisters, Judy Hageman of Calmar, Cindy Talbot of Milwaukee, WI, Robin Hageman of Calmar, Donna Hagen of Waterloo and Linda Arnold-Davis of Watkins, MN.
Pallbearers were Cory J. Kolek, Tary Kolek, Kevin Hageman, Kory Hageman, Les Soukup and Larry Soukup.

Lori Mae Soukup, 37, and Ashley Ann Waterman, 7, both of rural Postville, died as a result of a car-school bus collision Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened when Soukup pulled around a tractor and wagon parked near the road and pulled into the path of a westbound school bus. The accident happened on County Road B-60 at around 4:20 p.m.
The Valley CEW bus was driven by Donna Becker of Clermont. She was treated and released at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.
Soukup, of rural Postville, was in the process of taking Ashley and her siblings, Alex and Annette home from school before going to work. Immediately prior to the accident, she had taken her daughter, Veronica to a friend's house.
The children, all of rural Postville, are open-enrolled in the Decorah School System and attend John Cline Elementary School. School officials said the Watermans and Soukups took turns driving the children to and from school.
Soukup is survived by her husband Leonard, daugthter Veronica and step-daughter, Nicole.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Andrew and Ada Waterman and siblings, Annette and Alex.
