Roger Albertson

Roger Dean Albertson, 80, of Big Spring, Texas, has gone to be a part of the nature he so loved after a long illness. Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Myers & Smith Chapel, Big Spring, Texas.

He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Frankville. Roger served in the United States Navy as a draftsman before graduating from Iowa State University and starting a career teaching art and science to students in Iowa, California and Illinois. An accomplished artist, Roger took many of his themes from nature, and loved to watch birds and wildlife. He worked as a National Park ranger during the summers at Mt. Rainier, Wash., and two winters in Hawaii working at the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.

He also was proud that he had visited all 50 states and many foreign countries, including a safari in Africa. He moved to Big Spring Feb. 3, 2005, from Florida.

Roger was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, but is survived by three sons and their families. Roger has been blessed with the love of a large family and many, many friends throughout his life, and will be missed by all.

The family suggests memorials to Big Spring Symphony P.O. Box 682, Big Spring, TX 79721-0682.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.myersandsmith.com .
