Patricia Frana, age 66, of Eagan, MN, formerly of Calmar, IA, died on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Abbott – Northwest Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville Street, Calmar, IA, with Rev. Daniel Knipper presiding. Burial of cremains will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Patricia Frana memorial fund in care of Richard Frana, 2088 US HWY 52 Calmar, Iowa 52132.
Patricia Ann Frana was born in Decorah, Iowa on March 16, 1946, the daughter of Richard and Naomi (Houdek) Frana. She attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and graduated from St. Francis deSales High School in Ossian, Iowa, in 1964. She then attended the College of St. Theresa in Winona, MN, and received her degree from the Fairfax County School of Practical Nursing in Falls Church, Virginia. Pat worked in the nursing profession in Florida and Minnesota until her retirement from the University of Minnesota Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was a caring and compassionate nurse, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Pat enjoyed reading, and was a talented photographer and handcrafter. She loved spending time at her friend Anne’s cabin in Canada, and at Fritz and Cece’s cabin on the Mississippi in Wisconsin. She always gave special attention to and lavished much love on her nieces and nephews.
Patricia is survived by her parents: Richard and Naomi Frana, Calmar, IA. Three brothers: Gary (Lois) Frana, Calmar, IA, and Fritz (Mary “Cece”) Frana, Lakeville, MN; and Mark (Lesley) Frana, Delmar, MD. Nieces and nephews: Kelly (Brenda) Frana, Kathy (Ryan) Becker, Kristi (Jeff) Einhorn, Greg (Toni) Frana, Erin Frana, Kathleen (Daniel) Moss, Ryann (Jacob) Raynor and Daniel Frana. Also surviving are twelve great nieces and nephews, her long time best friend, Anne (Gary) Wallen, and many other beloved and loyal friends. Aunts and uncles: Julie (Cullen) Schwemer, Winona, MN, Francis O’Brien, Cedar Rapids, IA., Rita (Bud) Jirak, Little Turkey, IA, Richard Groux, Austin, TX, Rose Frana, Calmar, IA, and Sandy Frana, Decorah, IA.
Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Danny on August 26, 1967. Her grandparents: Frederick and Margaret Houdek and Stephen and Frances Frana. Aunts and uncles: Rosemary Groux, Joe & Germaine Izydorek, Walter Frana, Raymond & Alice Frana, Mildred & Wilmer Poshusta, Marcella & Vernon Lee, Steven Frana, Robert Frana and Gene O’Brien.
