Cletus L. Weidow, age 80, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died Friday, December 07, 2012 at Cresco Care Center in Cresco, IA following a long illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, IA with Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ridgeway.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 11 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.

Cletus Lyle “Bapa” Weidow was born September 7, 1932 at home on the farm in Sumner Township to William and Aldyce (Anderson) Weidow. He was baptized and confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Ridgeway High School with the class of 1950.

He was united in marriage with Karen G. Larson on April 10, 1965 at Madison Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children: Kevin, Kathy and Corey.

Cletus worked on the family farm with his parents in his younger years. Then he worked at the ASC office in Decorah. He drove truck, hauling livestock, and worked at the Winneshiek Coop in Ridgeway for over thirty years. He played in the Midnight Ramblers’ Band in the 1950s and ‘60s.

Cletus was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. He enjoyed playing cards with the guys on Mondays in Ridgeway. He loved to help Kevin and Corey on the farm, doing chores and “supervising” their work. He loved to watch sports on TV and loved spending time with his granddaughter, Kristen. Cletus taught Kristen how to ride her first bike without training wheels. He loved to play canasta with Kathy, Richard and Kristen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen on November 29, 2006; and by his parents and grandparents.

Cletus is survived by his three children: Kevin (Michelle) Weidow of Ridgeway, Kathy (Richard) Dahl of Burr Oak and Corey Weidow of Ridgeway; his granddaughter, Kristen Dahl of Burr Oak; three step-grandchildren, Ryan (Renae) Dahl of Cresco, Shelley (David) Flack of Belle Plaine, Iowa and Kyler Kostohryz of Decorah; and two step-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Kvam and Logan Flack of Belle Plaine.
