Thomas Fitzgerald died Wednesday, March 7, at Mercy hospital where he had been a patient two weeks following a heart attack. He was 83 years old. Funeral services were held at the Assumption church Saturday morning. The Rev. E. J. Supple officiated at the Mass and the Rev. Fr. Stirn, pastor of the Plymouth Rock Catholic church, preached the sermon. Burial was in the Plymouth Rock cemetery.
He was born in Winneshiek county, Dec. 26, 1861, and came to Cresco when a young man. He was employed as machinist for the D. A. Lyons Implement Co., until the dissolution of that firm. He was a cousin of Mrs. Lyons.
He is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Mary Walsh of Sioux Falls, S. D., who visited him while he was in the hospital and another sister who lives in Chicago. There is also a half brother, Martin Reddy of Austin, Minn. A cousin Kathryn Fleming lives in Minneapolis. She attended the funeral. Mr. Fitzgerald’s nephew Leonard Walsh of Sioux Falls was also here.
