Mrs. James E. McEnaney

Mrs. James E. McEnaney, former Cresco resident, died at her home in Austin, Minnesota, on Friday morning, March 8, after having suffered a stroke the previous week.

Alice Regina O’Brien was born on a farm near Freeport, northeast of Decorah in Winneshiek county, Iowa, on September 7, 1872, the daughter of Thomas and Ann O’Brien.

She was married to James E. McEnaney on November 7, 1889. They resided in Waucoma, Iowa, until 1915 when they moved to Cresco. In 1920 the family moved to Austin and has since resided there.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McEnaney. They are Dr. Clifford T. McEnaney, Owwatonna,{sp} Minn., Morgan J. McEnaney, Mason City, and J. Earl McEnaney of Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died on February 15 of this year. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death, two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Sullivan, Dubuque, Iowa, and Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, Fargo, N. D. Her five grandchildren also survive her.

Funeral services were held with a requiem high mass at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine’s Catholic church in Austin. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery in that city.
