Keith Qualley, 39, services held

Funeral services for Keith Qualley of Ridgeway were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. Rev. Phillip and Rev. Ginny Olson officiated. Private family committal services will be held at a later date. Pallbearers were: Gary Dotzler, Michael Fretheim, Chuck Heimer, Scott Hovden, Brad Kratz, Mark Larson, Roger Vick, and Paul Stevens. Fjelstul Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Keith, 39, died Friday, October 12, 2001 following his determined battle with Hodgkin’s Disease at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Keith Corwin Qualley was born March 9, 1962 in Decorah, the son of Kenneth and Marian (Dahle) Qualley. He was baptized on April 1, 1962 at Lincoln Lutheran Church. He confirmed his faith, also at Lincoln, on May 15, 1977. He graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco in the class of 1980 and then attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.

After school, Keith came back home and joined his father on the family farm. Upon his father’s retirement in 1989, he took over the farm operation. He served a term as the Farm Bureau Director from Lincoln Township.

In 1995, Keith was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease. Following the diagnoses, he stopped farming and rented out the land. Since then, he lived a very full and eventful life. He traveled to many places including Norway. He always liked animals, especially cats.

Keith was a life-long member of Lincoln and then Peace Lutheran Churches. He was currently serving as President of the congregation and chair of the congregational council. Keith was also teaching the Junior High Sunday School class.

He is survived by his parents: Kenneth and Marian Qualley of Ridgeway; four sisters: Cindy Puffer of Cresco, Debra Lienhard of Decorah; Karlene Jones of Cresco, and Annette Vobr of Ridgeway.

Keith was preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl and Josephine Qualley and Joseph and Edith Dahle.
