Services held for Leonard Hageman

Funeral services for Leonard Hageman of Calmar were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar. Pallbearers were: Lee Theis, Gary Hubka, Steven Hubka, Jamie Hageman, Joseph Hageman, and Jeremy Hageman. Schluter-Balik Funeral home, French Chapel Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Leonard, 83, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco following a long illness.

Leonard August Hagemen{sic} was born June 25, 1920 on the family farm near Calmar, the son of August and Theresa (Schmitt) Hageman. He attended school in Festina.

On February 23, 1943 he married Frances Andera at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. He farmed all his life near Calmar and semi-retired in 1978 and moved to Calmar.

Leonard enjoyed fishing and playing bingo at the Care Center.

Leonard was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

He is survived by three daughters: Carol Hubka of Cresco, Jane Theis of Carver, MN, and Doris Severson of Forest Lake, MN; five sons: Albert of Fort Atkinson, Gerald of Decorah, David of Decorah, Mike of Fort Atkinson, and Jim of Calmar; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; six brothers: Francis of Calmar, Louis of Fort Atkinson, Eugene of Decorah, Delbert of Decorah, August, Jr. of Ossian, and Robert of Decorah; and two sisters: Marie Brincks of Ossian and Helen Dietzenbach of St. Lucas.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Frances on Deptember{sic} 13, 1996; his parents; and one brother: Cornelius at the age of 14 months.
