Karen "Nana" G. Weidow, age 65, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Iowa by Rev. Phillip Olson and Rev. Ginny Olson, with burial in Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ridgeway.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Sunday at the church.
Karen Gustine Weidow was born May 24, 1941 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Myrtle (Melaas) Larson. She was baptized June 15, 1941 and confirmed May 15, 1955 at Madison Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, Iowa. She graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1959.
She was united in marriage with Cletus L. Weidow on April 10, 1965 at Madison Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children: Kevin, Kathy and Corey.
Karen worked at the Ben Franklin Store, Luther College Food Service and the Senior Citizen Meal sites in Decorah and Ridgeway. She also provided childcare in her home.
She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway and had volunteered for the Winneshiek Medical Center Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed going to coffee with her friends. She liked to travel and enjoyed playing cards. Karen loved to spend time with her granddaughter Kristen and especially going on shopping trips with Kathy and Kristen.
Survivors include her husband of over 41 years, Cletus of Ridgeway; her children, Kevin (Michelle) Weidow of Ridgeway, Iowa, Kathy (Richard) Dahl of Burr Oak, IA and Corey Weidow of Ridgeway; a granddaughter, Kristen Dahl of Burr Oak; three step grandchildren, Ryan Dahl of Decorah, Shelley Kvam of Decorah and Kyler Kostohryz of Decorah; and one step great granddaughter, Mackenzie Kvam of Decorah.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
