Dave Taylor, age 76, of Decorah, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah after a short hospitalization.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 10, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Decorah by Rev. Carol A. Kress. Private family burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah with full military honors.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. Sunday, December 9 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.

Clyde Davis Taylor was born July 3, 1931 in Decorah, IA, the son of Clyde and Margaret (Davis) Taylor. He graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1949 and then attended Luther College for two years prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a Corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1952 to 1954.

He was united in marriage to Marlene J. Latham in New Hampton, IA on April 9, 1953. This union was blessed with two children: Terry and Bryan.

Dave worked for Taylor Construction, Taylor Hardware, Berge Construction, A.R. Coffeen Construction and Blackhawk Construction of Waterloo. He was then hired as Superintendent for the City of Decorah Street Department in 1972. He retired in July 1993.

His memberships include the First United Methodist Church in Decorah, the Fox & Coon Club and the Elks.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Frances Seim.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Decorah; his daughter, Terry (Rick) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IA; his son, M. Bryan (fiancée Tammy) Taylor of Holmen, WI; and two grandchildren: Taylor Dale Anderson and Ashley Rose Taylor.
