Brenda Stofferahn, age 59, of St. Paul, Minnesota, died on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN, from complications of breast cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Calmar Lutheran Church, in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Norman Bauer presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at the church on Tuesday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Brenda K. Stofferahn, was born on June 27, 1951, the daughter of Orval and Hulda (Zick) Stofferahn, in Worthington, MN. Brenda was baptized on August 19, 1951, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson, MN, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 2, 1965, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Lake Park, IA. Brenda graduated from South Winn High School in 1969 and attended Area One Vocational School, in Calmar, IA, where she earned a certificate in Business in 1970. Brenda moved to St. Paul, MN, shortly after graduation and began working for the State of Minnesota. In 1972, Brenda began her career with Ecolab in downtown St. Paul. She received the Circle of Excellence Award in 1986, for her significant contributions to the company. Brenda’s greatest joys came from spending time with her grandsons and traveling extensively with her sister across the United States. Brenda enjoyed good movies, good chocolate and good times with her friends. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed canning and cooking for her extended family, co-workers and friends.

Brenda is survived by her father: Orval Stofferahn, Calmar, IA. One brother: Wayne Stofferahn, Des Moines, IA. One sister: Shirlene Stofferahn, Freeport, IL. Two grandsons: Tyler and Caleb Bastyr, Hannibal, MO. Nieces and nephews: August (Sarah) Stofferahn, San Francisco, CA; Bryan Stofferahn, St. Francisco, CA; Stephanie (Gerald) Bastyr, Hannibal, MO; Steven (Genista) Crider, Jr., Plymouth, MN; and Ashley (Josh) Varner, Jefferson City, MO. Two great nephews: Luca & Noah Stofferahn and one great niece: Justina Varner.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother: Hulda Stofferahn on September 21, 2005 and her sister: Carolyn Crider on June 16, 1989.
