Larry Stockman, age 64, of Lime Springs, IA, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in La Crescent, MN.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Burr Oak Cemetery, with Rev. Matt Larson, from the Burr Oak Lutheran Church presiding. There will be military honors at the graveside by the Helof – Holm VFW Chapter #1977.
Larry Dean Stockman was born on September 4, 1947, the son of Rolland Perry and Rose Marie (Kimber) Stockman, in Preston, MN. Larry attended country school and attended Crestwood High School in Cresco, IA. Larry served in the US Marines in Twenty-nine Palms, CA, and then lived in Yucca Valley, CA. He returned to live in Southeast Minnesota and Northeast Iowa, where he was “Jack of all Trades” and worked various jobs. The last four years, Larry had lived in Lime Springs. Larry enjoyed fishing, going to the races and was a “die-hard” Minnesota Viking fan. Larry was a member of the Lime Springs Methodist Church in Lime Springs, IA.
Larry is survived by his three sisters: Henrietta (Ronald) Engelhardt, Decorah, IA; Evelyn (Dale) Quam, Decorah, IA; and Carol Banks, Cresco, IA. Two brothers: Roger (Tina) Stockman, Yucca Valley, CA; and Marc (Maxine) Stockman, Lime Springs, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Two uncles: Bob (Darlene) Kimber, Minneapolis, MN; and Gail (Emogene) Kimber, Little Rock, AR. One aunt: Kathleen Powers, Cresco, IA.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Rolland in 1967 and Rose in 1987. One sister: Bette McGinness in 2000 and one brother: Ronald Stockman in 2004 and his wife, Carole in 2009.
