Pearl B. Soreide, age 94, of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Decorah Lutheran Church by Rev. Bryan Robertson with burial in Lincoln Cemetery, rural Ridgeway, Iowa.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.

Pearl Beatrice Hove Soreide was born June 29, 1911 on the family farm in Lincoln Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Anderson) Albertson. She was baptized and confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, Iowa and graduated from Ridgeway High School.

Pearl was united in marriage with Amos Hove on August 10, 1932 at Lincoln Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Lydell, Gary and Patricia.

The couple made their home on a farm in Lincoln Township where all three of their children were born. They later moved to Ridgeway, where they owned and operated Hove’s Grocery and Locker for several years.

Pearl later moved to Decorah and began working for Luther College. She relocated to Cedar Rapids in 1960 and while there worked for St. Luke’s Hospital and the Piggly Wiggly Supermarket. She returned to Decorah in 1963 and was again employed by Luther College. Pearl was united in marriage to Rudolph Soreide on September 25, 1965 in Caledonia, MN. Following Rudolph’s untimely death in 1969, Pearl began employment at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, working there until her retirement in 1981.

She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and enjoyed a number of hobbies including working with ceramics, quilting, playing bridge, bowling and traveling with her sister Geneva and her friend Laura Ness. Pearl treasured spending time with her grandchildren.

Pearl became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah in 1999. She died at the Home on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the age of 94 years.

Survivors include her three children, Lydell Hove of Princeton, IL, Gary (Sandra) Hove of Decorah, IA and Patricia (Joe) Weis of Decorah, IA; eight grandchildren, Lori (Chuck) Hultine of Princeton, IL, Eric (Carrie) Hove of East Peoria, IL, Lizabeth (Patrick) Puebla of Princeton, IL, Peggy (Monty) Kuhn of West Union, IA, Brenda (Scott) Houg of Waukon, IA , Marc (Sandra) Weis of Andover, MN, Julie (Mike) Lisowski of Chatfield, MN and Steve (Nancy) Weis of Decorah, IA; and sixteen great-grandchildren

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Amy Ray, Inez Dahle, Edith Dahle and Geneva Bakken; a brother, Arthur Albertson; a daughter-in-law, Lois Hove and a grandson, Bryan La Moine Hove.
