Lyle Rosendahl, age 80, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Iowa, with Rev. Phil and Ginny Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Ridgeway, Iowa.

Friends may call from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 11:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning.

Lyle Pernell Rosendahl was born on May 13, 1929, the son of Olger and Rose (Tieskotter) Rosendahl on the family farm, rural Decorah, Iowa. He was baptized on June 22, 1929, at the Decorah Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 7, 1942, at the Ridgeway Lutheran Church. Lyle graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Hove on September 24, 1950, at Lincoln Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, IA. Together they farmed, milking cows, raising swine and beef, and growing crops. Lyle was very proud of the land he owned, the crops he grew and the John Deere equipment he used. In 2008, he was awarded the Pioneer Dairyman of the year. Lyle was supportive of the Winneshiek Coop, where he served on the board of directors for eighteen years and twelve years as president. For the last few years he enjoyed his almost daily trip to the Ridgeway office for coffee and conversation. Most of all, Lyle loved and cared for his family. He loved his grandchildren greatly and enjoyed attending all of their events. Lyle was an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church; serving on the council and one year as president.

Lyle’s survivors include his wife: Rosemary Rosendahl, Ridgeway, IA. Two daughters: Roxann Brown, Denver, IA and Kris (Jim) Lynch, Decorah, IA. One brother: Dennis (Sue) Rosendahl, Phoenix, AZ. Two sisters-in-law: Beverly (Charlie Miller) Bakken, Cresco, IA and Carol (Sonny) Harland, Harmony, MN. Five grandchildren: Nathaniel Knut (Molly) Brown, Waterloo, IA, Emily Lynch, Rochester, MN, Abby (fiancé Drew Sears) Lynch, Chicago, IL, Andrew Brown, Denver, IA, Molly (John) Budweg, Ridgeway, IA. Two Aunts: Marj Tieskotter and Viola Palmer, both of Decorah, IA.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents: Olger and Rose Rosendahl. One daughter: Kathrine Aleda Rosendahl on August 21, 1959. One son-in-law: Larry Brown on April 29, 2008. One brother: Gordon Rosendahl. One brother-in-law: John Bakken.
