Angeline Roney, age 92, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Glesne, Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Allen Vik officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.
Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Angeline Kay (Klotzbach) Roney was born on November 28, 1913, the daughter of Theodore and Alvina (Lamker) Klotzbach in Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She attended rural school in Clayton County. She married Ralph Roney on April 27, 1934 in Waukon, Iowa and had nine children. Together they farmed north of Decorah and moved to Decorah in 1949. Angeline worked for the Decorah Cleaners, The Barth Tavern, Wapsie Produce and helped clean homes and offices in Decorah. Angeline enjoyed dancing, quilting, her flower gardens, embroidering, and going fishing with her family. She was a wonderful mother, cook and baker.
Angeline’s survivors include her four daughters: Jeanette Harms & husband Gordon, Pierre, SD; Ruth Farley, New Albin, IA; Elaine Kessler, Port St. Lucie, FL and Trudy Barrett, Loveland, CO. Five sons: Robert Roney & wife Joanne, Decorah, IA; Donald Roney & wife Arlene, Loveland, CO; Arlin Roney & wife Pat, Moncks Corner, SC; Duane Roney & wife Linda, Charles City, IA and Dale Roney & wife Dawn, Waukon, IA. Forty-one grandchildren, ninety-six great grandchildren and twenty-one great great grandchildren. One sister: Margaret “Peggy” (John) Wikan, Waukon, IA.
Angeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph on April 9, 2001; her parents, one great grandchild: Phillip Hayek; five sons-in-law: Richard Kessler, John Barrett, James Farley, Bernard Gacke and Don Schultz; four brothers: Gerald, LeRoy, Carleton and Richard Klotzbach; three sisters: Delores Kraby, Irene Myrah and Ellen Peterson.
