Alice M. Reum, age 81, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 11, 2010 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah with The Rev. Jeannette N. Pillsbury, Deacon, officiating. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 10 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and after 8:00 A.M. on Friday.

Alice Mae (Thompson) Reum was born September 18, 1928 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Ole M. and Sophia Augusta (Blum) Thompson. She attended Decorah Public Schools and graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1946.

She united in marriage to Frederic P. Reum at First United Methodist Church in Decorah. This union was blessed with two children: Michael and Chris.

Alice worked at the Winneshiek County Treasurer’s Office, and then as a sales clerk for Montgomery Ward, Sears and Vanberia.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi, all of Decorah.

Alice became a resident of Aase Haugen Home on May 26, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frederic on March 22, 2007; four sisters and three brothers.

Alice is survived by her two sons, Michael Reum of Denver, Colorado and Chris Reum of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandsons, Matthew Reum, Mitchell Reum, Frederic Reum and Christopher Reum; two granddaughters, Catherine Reum and Victoria Reum; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Jade; four sisters: Margaret Swanson of West Richland, Washington, LaVerne Tiernan of Decorah, Darlene (Vernon) Vine of Decorah, Beverly (Edward) Dickman of Sandy Valley, Nevada; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Thompson of Decorah.

Memorials may be given to Friends of the Decorah Public Library.
