Raymond was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church. He attended the Sheggrud country school through the seventh grade. Ray worked for various farmers in the neighborhood before moving to Decorah and working for L.C. Bolson Co. Hatchery, later working for Bolson Feeds. Also at many family get-togethers he would bring along his guitar and/or harmonica. He liked to sing and get together with his friend, the late, Marvin Onsager. He also spent several years singing with the Luren Singers. His position at Luther College involved working with several international students. Among them was Tony Guzman who became good friends and a fellow music lover. Raymond had a large garden for several years; selling his produce at the Farmer’s Market. Ray enjoyed giving away his extra produce. Years ago he could be found at the local softball field. He played ball for several years with a Glenwood team and later with the Good Shepherd Church league team. He also enjoyed playing darts. Raymond and LaVerne moved to Burr Oak in 1987.
