Ralph "Joe" Joseph McMullen, age 26, of Seattle, Washington and formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Seattle.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural West Union, Iowa by Pastor Ryan Nilsen. Burial will be held at a later date at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Friends may call after 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah.

Ralph “Joe” Joseph McMullen was born February 25, 1981 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Ralph Merle and Caroline Ann (Gesing) McMullen. He graduated from High School in Des Moines, Iowa.

Joe worked in the construction industry as a carpenter and bricklayer. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and canoeing.

Joe died Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 25 years.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Ralph M. and Deone (Anfinson) McMullen of Ossian, Iowa; two half brothers, Jeremiah Petsche of Iowa City, IA and Mitchell McMullen of Ossian, IA; a half sister, Morgan McMullen of Ossian; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Gesing of Cresco, IA; four aunts, Sandy (Jack) Mangrich of Lansing, IA, Judy (Kenny) Gerleman of Iowa City, IA, Linda (Dale) Schroeder of Des Moines, IA, and Darlene (Mark) Mostek of Lakewood, CO; and two uncles, Mike (Jolene) Gesing of Postville, IA and Larry (Kathy) Gesing of Spillville, IA, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline on November 25, 2004; his maternal grandfather, Ralph Gesing and his paternal grandparents, Neil and Violet McMullen.
