Cecilia Caroline Mendelsohn was born May 19, 2011 and died suddenly on June 5 at a hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. Cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Cecilia is survived by her parents: Stephanie French and Rolf Mendelsohn of Luanda, Angola. Grandparents: Philip J. and Dianne French of Calmar, Iowa and John and Celia Mendelsohn of Windhoek, Namibia. Four aunts: Patty (Lloyd) Phillips of New Hampton, IA; Annette (Doyle) Speer of Aledo, IL; Cheryl (Scott) Hotvedt of Calmar, IA; Steffi Mendelsohn of Windhoek, Namibia. Two uncles: Philip C. (Dawn) French of Calmar, IA and Martin Mendelsohn of Windhoek, Namibia. Seven cousins: Mitchell Phillips, Jenna & Tori Speer, Allie & Walker Hotvedt, and Mia & Philip Ethan French.
