Elnora “Ellie” Marlow, age 80, of Cresco, Iowa, formerly of the Burr Oak, Iowa area, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at the Cresco Care Center, in Cresco, Iowa, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2007, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church with Rev. Matt Larson. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Iowa.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Schluter – Balik Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.

Elnora “Ellie” Marlow was born on August 31, 1926, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Blomgren) Albertson, near Ridgeway, Iowa. Ellie attended country schools and worked at a restaurant in Decorah as a young woman. She married Curtis Marlow on March 31, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they farmed north of Decorah for many years. She helped her husband operate the Burr Oak Tavern and worked at DECO Products in Decorah. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, collecting coins and playing Bingo. She was an excellent cook, making homemade chicken noodle soup and apple pies for her family. Ellie enjoyed and loved her family.

Ellie’s survivors include her four daughters: Elaine Armstrong & husband Jerry, Preston, MN; Karen Hovey & husband Roger, Mason City, IA; Jean Coons, Decorah, IA and Cindy Vilkaitis, Loveland, CO. Eleven grandchildren: Mona Schwier, Lance Armstrong, Shawn, Darcy & Peter Wennes, Darin Meldahl, Bobbie Boettcher, Travis Coons, Curtis & Donnie Dundee; and Crystal Vilkaitis. Fourteen great grandchildren: Bailee and Dalton Schwier, Lane & Larissa Armstrong; Nathan & Noah Wennes; Ella & Olivia Wennes; A.J. & Ericson Wennes; Austin & Joseph Boettcher; Tristan Dundee and Skylar Dundee. One sister: Juliet Marhoul, Decorah, IA; One brother: Jerry (Sandy) Albertson, Ridgeway, IA. Three sisters-in-law: Betty (Walt) Josephson, Rochester, MN, Nancy (Gene) See, North Port, FL and Kathy Marlow, Cresco, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellie was preceded in death by her father: Joe in 1987; her mother: Ella in 2006; her husband: Curtis on Aug. 4, 2002; two brothers: Gerald; and Junior in infancy.
