Lyle Joseph Lensing was born on January 10, 1949, a special son of Gordian and Valeria (Imoehl) Lensing in Decorah, Iowa. Lyle lived at home until the age of ten and then lived at the State Hospital in Woodward, Iowa for a number of years and then in 1979, he moved to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Elma, Iowa where he resided until his death. While at Colonial Manor, Lyle worked for 18 years at the Elma Comprehensive Worksite. Lyle would ride the transit van daily and patiently waited for the bus to arrive daily. In 2009 Lyle, even though he was the youngest resident, received the longevity award for living in the home for 30 years. Lyle was also a member of the St. John Nepomucene Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa.

Lyle enjoyed playing bingo and throwing a ball. As Lyle got older he became more of a jokester. He loved throwing his fork and spoon or anything in his way on the floor when he thought the nurses were not looking. Then he would start to laugh and thought he really got away with something!! That was a game all the nurses will remember most about Lyle. He was blessed with the time he was given to live at Colonial Manor. With all of the love and care he received at the home, he lived to be a very happy man of 63 years.
