Rites Held For Former Resident

Harvey E. Buddenberg, a former resident of Postville, passed away, August 31, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was hospitalized for six weeks, at the Veterans' Hospital in Phoenix, with a coronary heart condition.

Harvey was born on a farm near Postville, October 27, 1896, to Henry William and Bertha (Roth) Buddenberg. He grew up in Postville and Castalia, and entered the Navy during World War I. September 1, 1920, he entered into marriage with Amy Moen. They had three children: a son, Ronald, and two daughters, Margaret and Audrey. While raising their family, they farmed in parts of Northeast Iowa, and then for approximately the last 20 years, near Postville. They were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In February of 1958, they left the Emma Wirkler farm West of Postville, and moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they have been living in semi-retirement.

Funeral services were held at the Paradise Chapel in Phoenix, the Rev. Carl Olson of Mesa was Officiant. He was laid to rest in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona, September 5.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; a son, Ronald, of Canoga Park, California; 2 daughters, Margret Kelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Audrey, of North Hollywood, California; 3 brothers, Elmer, Wilbur, and Melvin of Castalia; 2 sisters, Rubye Reeves, of La Puente, California and Amelia Burt, of Clermont; also 8 grandchildren, Judy, Patty, Mark, Arlene and Stacey Buddenberg, Canoga Park, and Steven, David and Susan Kelson of Minneapolis.
