Robert J. “Bob” Frana, age 73, of Decorah, Iowa, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Phillip Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Decorah.

Visitation is on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Fjelstul Funeral Home with a vigil service at 4:30 P.M. and on Tuesday after 9:30 A.M. at the church.

Robert “Bob” Jerome Frana was born February 16, 1936, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Stephen and Frances (Havel) Frana. Bob graduated from Calmar High School with the class of 1953.

He was united in marriage to Sandra Smith on May 9, 1956 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. This union was blessed with 7 children: Stacey, Pam, Greg, Scott, Renee, Mitch and Kari.

Bob farmed his whole life in Madison Township.

Bob was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah.

Bob became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home on January 26, 2009. He died there on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee; his parents; three brothers: Steven, Walter and Raymond; and by two sisters: Marcella Lee and Mildred Poshusta.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy of Decorah; three daughters: Stacey (Duane) Gullickson of Plymouth, MN, Pam (Daryl) Dehning of Calmar, IA, Kari (Tom) Robbins of Albert Lea, MN; three sons: Greg Frana of Calmar, IA, Scott Frana of Decorah, IA, and Mitch (Gretchen) Frana of Shakopee, MN; seven grandchildren: Alyssa Gullickson, Lindsey Gullickson, Hannah Gullickson, Corbin Dehning, Madelyn Frana, Lucas Frana and Easton Robbins; two sisters: Rita (Arnold “Bud”) Jirak of Little Turkey, IA and Franny (Gene) O’Brien of Cedar Rapids, IA; one brother, Richard (Naomi) Frana of Calmar, IA; and by many nieces and nephews.
