Final rites for Wesley Gordon Brandt, 63, rural Postville, were held Thursday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. in Frankville Community Presbyterian church. The Rev. Roger Hawthorne officiated and interment was in Frankville cemetery.

He died Monday, Sept. 13 at his farm near Frankville.

He was born June 27, 1913 in Winneshiek county to Walter and Hazel (Padrick) Brandt. He was educated in the local schools and served with the Army's 149th Infantry division in the Pacific during World War II. He married Ethel Westby August 26, 1948.

Surviving are his mother, his wife, 2 sons, Lowell of Tipton and Loren of Postville, 2 daughters, JoAnn of Waukon and Mrs. Michael (Janice) Koenig of Castalia, a brother Wayne of Waukon, a sister, Mrs. Roland (Beverly) Peck of Postville, and a grandson, Luther Koenig.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was an elder of the Frankville church, member of the board of directors of Union Produce cooperative, Ossian, and Frankville Cheese factory, and Ossian American Legion post.

Casket bearers were Sidney Halverson, Harry Halverson, Curtis Gremm, Byron Schultz, Earl Gander and Donald Sweeney.

Schutte funeral service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
