Danny Darling, age 49, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from injuries in an accident on Saturday, near Freeport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, Iowa, with Rev. Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, in Decorah and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning.

Daniel Fay “Danny” Darling was born on October 11, 1957, the son of Alvin and LaVonne (McCauley) Darling in Beloit, Wisconsin. Danny graduated from North Winneshiek High School in 1976 and from Area One in Calmar, in Ag Business in 1978. Danny married Cindy Peters on April 15, 1978 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church. Danny farmed east of Burr Oak. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, going on drives and having fun. Danny also enjoyed going to the Lake at Hackensack, Minnesota with his family every summer. Danny was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church.

Danny’s survivors include his wife, Cindy Darling, Decorah, IA. One son: Brad (Tina) Darling, Burr Oak, IA; One daughter: Kristy Darling, Decorah, IA. His parents: Alvin and LaVonne Darling, Burr Oak, IA. Two brothers: Randy (Paulette) Darling, Burr Oak, IA and Rick (Vicki) Darling, Lansboro, MN. Four sisters: Gail (Jim) Masters, New Hampton, IA; Terri (Larry) Schneberger, Decorah, IA, Shannon (Jeff) Downing, Muscatine, IA and Stacey (Ben) Ahrens, Burr Oak, IA. His father and mother-in-law: Corliss & Glenda Peters, Casper, WY. Three sisters-in-law: Denise (Steve) Gjere, Bluffton, IA, Shelly Novotony, Ridgeway, IA and Becky (Dave) Baumler, Decorah, IA. Two uncles: Lester (Jean) McCauley, Decorah, IA and Dean (Ginger) Darling, Burr Oak, IA and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents: Kenneth & Pearl Darling and Elmer & Gladys McCauley; one sister-in-law: Shirley Darling; two nephews: Dustin Downing and Troy Kruse.
