John Chipera, age 45, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, from injuries he received from an automobile accident on Highway #52 between Calmar and Decorah.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.

John Paul Chipera was born on March 11, 1961, the son of Paul and Lillian (Langreck) Chipera at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in New Hampton, Iowa. John was baptized on March 19, 1961, received his first communion in 1969 and was confirmed on March 9, 1971 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1979 and farmed with family. He then worked for Rawhide Trailers in Cresco and for the past nineteen years at Gemini in Decorah. He married Jeanie Bullerman on April 20, 1985 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa. He enjoyed doing woodworking, farming with his family, golfing and being with his friends. John especially enjoyed going to his children’s events and spending time with his family. John was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the South Winn Country Club, the Wood Peckers Woodworking Club and his Fantasy Football group.

John’s survivors include his wife, Jeanie Chipera, Calmar, IA; One daughter: Nicole Chipera, Cedar Falls, IA and one son: Blake Chipera, at home in Calmar, IA. His parents: Paul and Lillian Chipera, Fort Atkinson, IA; One sister: Joyce (Bob) Walker, Mason City, IA; Two brothers: Dave (Bianca) Chipera, Nashua, IA and Dan (Michelle) Chipera, New Hampton, IA. His mother-in-law: Sandra Holthaus, Calmar, IA; Sister-in-law: Kimberly (Chris) Steggall, Waverly, IA. Two brothers-in-law: Gary (Valerie) Bullerman, Hudson, IA and Scott Bullerman, Fort Madison, IA. Nieces and nephews: Carmen, Brittany & Abby Chipera; Brett & Jarryd Walker; Kyle & Collyn Chipera; Anna Nystel, Vicky & John McCulley; Megan, Michele & Matthew Bullerman; Cambria & Cayla Bullerman and Brandon & Nathan Steggall, and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joseph & Katherine Chipera and John J. & Lena Langreck.
