Marjorie “Margie” Borseth, age 68, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, July 21, 2006, at her home following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 on Sunday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah, Iowa, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning.

Marjorie “Margie” Borseth, age 68, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, July 21, 2006, at her home following a sudden illness.

Marjorie “Margie” Joan (Peterson) Borseth was born on December 9, 1937, on the family farm, in Dover Township, rural West Union, Iowa, to Leo B. and Julia C. (Quass) Peterson. Margie was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church, rural Ossian. Margie attended country school and then graduated from West Union High School in 1956. After high school, she worked at the Town House in West Union. She married Stanley Borseth on November 29, 1959 at the First Lutheran Church, Ossian, Iowa. They lived and farmed all their married lives on the Borseth family farm on the Middle Calmar Road. Margie served as the custodian of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah and the Springfield Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. She enjoyed baking and working at Auctions held in the Community Building. Margie enjoyed visiting, playing cards, and entertaining her friends and family. Margie was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, where she was a Deaconess and an Usher. Margie is survived by her two sisters: Audrey (Donald) Vagts, West Union, IA and Judy Ehler, Ossian, IA. Brother-in-law: Virgil Monroe, Ossian, IA. Aunt: Mildred Quass, Ossian, IA. Several nieces and nephews: Mark (Joan) Vagts, Marcia (Foadian) Hoss, Marlys (Chuck) Bushman; Julienne (Randy) Smith, Leo (Cheryle) Monroe, LeVirgil (Marie) Monroe, Leland (Lynn) Monroe, Layne (Diane) Monroe, Jeff (Angie) Monroe; Bruce Ehler, Dean (Kari) Ehler, Joel (Tiffany) Ehler, Kathy (fiancé Phil VanWeelden) Ehler, Chad (Karen) Ehler, and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. One brother-in-law: Norman (Lillian) Borseth, Decorah, IA; two sisters-in-law: Sadie Lensch Ward, Decorah, IA and Arla (Lester) Hirsch, Charles City, IA.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley, on July 26, 2001; her sister: Lois Monroe, on July 9, 1992; one niece: Nancy Jayne Monroe; and brother-in-law: Jerry Ehler on Jan. 8, 1996.
