Jane M. Bentley, age 52, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa, of complications from diabetes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2009, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, St. Lucas, Iowa.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 on Thursday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Jane Marie (Huinker) Bentley was born on May 5, 1957, the daughter of Eugene and Dorothy (Sharp) Huinker in West Union, Iowa. Jane graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1975. Jane was united in marriage to Jerry Bentley, on November 28, 1981, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. She worked at Atwood Automotive in West Union, for twenty-eight years, until October 2007. Jane enjoyed horseback riding, playing cards, and rafting. She also enjoyed watching many sporting events, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. What Jane enjoyed the most was spending time with her family and friends. Jane was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Jane’s survivors include her husband: Jerry Bentley, Calmar, IA. One daughter: Jess Bentley, Marshall, MN. Three sons: Josh (Kristi) Bentley, Wyoming, IA; Jordan Bentley, Calmar, IA and Jake Bentley, Calmar, IA. Three grandchildren: Tatem Galloway, Tylan “Pickles” Bentley and Asa Lee Bentley, all of Wyoming, IA. Her father: Eugene Huinker, formerly of St. Lucas, IA, now residing at Traditions in West Union, IA. One sister: Kaye (Chuck) Bassett, Cedar Rapids, IA. Two brothers: Arnie (Marilyn) Huinker, Lakeville, MN, and Kurt (Dawn) Huinker, St. Lucas, IA, along with many nieces and nephews. Her father and mother-in-law: Wayne & Helen Bentley, Fayette, IA. One brother-in-law: Barry (Peggy) Bentley, Fayette, IA. Five sisters-in-law: Cindy (Tony) Gilliland, Edwardsville, KS; Conny (Bob) Foster, Sumner, IA; Kelly Fox, Fayette, IA; Tammy Bentley, Lawton, OK, and Betsy (Rex Brewer) Clark, Fayette, IA. Two aunts: Kathleen Marlow, Cresco, IA, and Josephine Huinker, Ossian, IA.

Jane was preceded in death by her mother: Dorothy Huinker on September 11, 2008; along with her maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
