Eric Paul Twesme, age 42, of Waterloo, Iowa and formerly of Decorah, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at his home in Waterloo following a long illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, by Rev. Kim W. Smith, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the services on Sunday at the church.

Eric Paul Twesme was born March 25, 1963 in Omaha, NE, the son of Paul Twesme and Carmen (Sersland) Twesme. Eric’s family moved to Spencer, IA, when he was a baby and he attended school there, as well as at U.N.I.

A bright and inquisitive child, Eric showed an early interest in motors and cars and had a large collection of miniature cars which he cherished. As a teenager he raced Go-carts and later enjoyed rebuilding his grandmother’s Corvair convertible and an antique VW van. He seemed to possess an innate understanding of electronics and new technology.

While attending family reunions as a child he was always interested in the relationships between attendees and often asked, “What is he/she to me?”

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen in 1986; grandparents Newland & Anne Twesme, Edgar Sersland and his uncle, Tom Sersland.

He is survived by his father, Paul, and stepmother, Joy; his brother, Jeff, and stepbrother, Jared, and their families; his uncle, David Twesme & Mary and cousins Dave & Laura Twesme-Mitchell, and their families; his grandmother, Gerda Sersland; a supportive aunt, Sara Sersland, and his companion, Ms. Toni Gleason, as well as great-aunts, Edith Gipp and Marie Sersland, and several cousins in the Decorah area.

Finally, Eric is free of pain.
