Funeral Services Held For Lloyd Blumhagen

Funeral services were held Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, for Lloyd W. Blumhagen who died April 2 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Duane Manson officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Lloyd W. Blumhagen, son of Henry and Anna (Schutte) Blumhagen, was born in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa on March 4, 1910. He was baptized July 4, 1910 in Postville and confirmed July 12, 1925 at Castalia. He received his education in the Bloomfield Township school near his home.

On February 14, 1933 he was united in marriage with Agnes Russett at Galena, Illinois and they became parents of four children. They spent their entire life on their present farm.

Survivors include his wife, 2 sons, Dale of Pulaski, Iowa and Gerald of Castalia; 2 daughters, Mrs. Donald (Darlene) Gilster, Castalia and Mrs. Steve (Shirley) Houdek of Marion; nine grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry and Alvin of Castalia and 2 sisters, Mrs. William (Minnie) Bugenhagen, Jr., Luana and Elda Blumhagen of Castalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Carl, Louis, George and Arno and 2 sisters: Mabel and Elsie.
