Clifford J. Kjos, age 90 of Cresco, IA, formerly of Ridgeway, IA, died on Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Cresco Care Center of congestive heart failure.

Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Madison Lutheran Church in rural Ridgeway, IA by Rev. Phillip Olson and Rev. Ginny Olson with interment in Madison Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and beginning at10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the church.

Clifford Julian Kjos was born October 2, 1914 on the home farm in Madison Township, Winneshiek County, IA, the son of Julian Filip and Clara Helene (Anderson) Kjos. He was baptized on October 25, 1914 and confirmed on May 26, 1929 at Madison Lutheran Church. He attended rural school in Madison Township.

He was united in marriage with Charlotte Hahn on May 13, 1945 in the Houston Lutheran Church in Houston, MN. To this union four children were born: Cheryl, Linda, Carlton and Rhonda.

Clifford remained on the family farm and enjoyed farming all of his working life. He was particularly fond of his childhood pony, Tony, and his dairy cows. In his later years he enjoyed tractor driving and helping his son, Carlton, continue the farming operation. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren were very important to him. He really enjoyed seeing Carlton’s dogs on the farm. Clifford and Charlotte became residents of the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, IA, on July 1, 2004.

Clifford died on Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Cresco Care Center of congestive heart failure, at the age of 90.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Milton, Spencer, and twins, Reuben and Rudolph, in infancy; and one sister, Mae Lunz.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Cresco; his children: Cheryl (Craig) Campbell of Rochester, MN, Linda (Bruce) Galloway of Rochester, MN, Carlton (Cyndy) Kjos of Decorah, IA, and Rhonda (Doug) Abbott of Rochester, MN; 7 grandchildren: Clint and Drew Campbell, Alicia (Seth) Watson and Nathan Galloway, Adam Abbott (US Navy), Nicholas Abbott and Misty Abbott; 1 sister, Ruby Grafwallner of Colorado Springs, CO; 1 sister-in-law, Carola Kjos of Milwaukee, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
