Carolyn Joan Johnson, 70 of Decorah, Iowa passed away at 6:03 AM on Monday, July 4, 2005 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2101 South Prospect Avenue, Champaign, Illinois 61821 with Reverend Donna Hacker Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, Illinois 61874. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah, Iowa is in charge of the burial.

Carolyn was born on March 10, 1935 in Decorah, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Olive Anderson Noecker. She married Hugh Johnson at the First Lutheran Church, Decorah, Iowa in 1958.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Decorah High School in 1953 and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Luther College in 1957. She was a grade school teacher in Beloit, Wisconsin and at Carrie Busey Elementary School in Champaign in the 1960's before staying home to raise her son. She lived in Champaign from 1961 to 1979 and was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. She was also a member of the University of Illinois Department of animal Sciences Wives Group. In 1979, she returned to her hometown to attend to her mother. For the last 25 year, Mrs. Johnson was a Certified Nurses Aide at Aase Haugen Nursing Home and in private home health care. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Farm Bureau Women's Chorus, Northern Lights Chorus and the New Minowa Players. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, baking, music and singing in choirs.

Surviving include one son: David Johnson of Champaign, Illinois; one brother: Robert Noecker of Clinton, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Matthew, Jennifer and Ashley Johnson of Champaign, Illinois; five nieces and nephews: Randy Noecker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Terrie Myers of Kansas City, Missouri, Jane Noecker of Clinton, Iowa, Lori Zeutenhorst of Orange City, Iowa and Jeff Noecker of St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Memorials can be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Sunday School Program, 2101 South Prospect Avenue, Champaign, Illinois 61821.
