Irma E. Buchheit, age 94 of Decorah, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah following a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2005 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, IA, by Rev. Gary F. Krapfl, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is on Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Festina Parish Center, with a Prayer Vigil Service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, and on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Festina Parish Center. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Irma Elenora Buchheit was born March 2, 1910 in Military Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Rosa (Bushman) Moellers. She was educated at Our Lady of Seven Dolors School in Festina, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Hubert W. Buchheit on January 25, 1932 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1991.

Irma and Hubert farmed together in the Festina area for over Forty years. They moved to Decorah in 1983. Irma was a longtime member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, and a lifetime member and past President of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah and the Decorah VFW Auxiliary. Irma was a volunteer 4H leader for many years and also enjoyed donating her time and talents to the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, The Depot and the Senior Citizen’s Center in Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her Husband, Hubert on October 11, 1991; a granddaughter, Kathy Buchheit; seven brothers, Henry, Joseph, Edmund, Alix, Harry, Buddy, and William Moellers; six sisters, Catherine Moellers, Bertha Gardner, Clothilda Taylor, Caroline Shell, Marcella Mueller and Adella Hiemmerman.

Survivors include a son, Gilbert (Cathy) Buchheit of Rockville, Minn.; a daughter, Rosa Jensen of Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren, Kelly (Dan) Willard of St. Joseph, Minn., Troy (Jan) Buchheit of St. Joseph, Minn., and Daniel (Christine) Jensen of Rochester, Minn.; seven great grandchildren, Mitch and Clay Willard, Lindsay and Cody Buchheit, Donovan, Timothy and Claudia Jensen; two sisters-in-law, Freida Einck of Decorah and Bernice Buchheit of Festina and one brother-in-law, Harold Mueller of St. Louis, MO.
