Kathreen "Katy" B. Bradley, age 84, of Decorah, IA, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah following a long illness.
Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, by Rev. Marion Pruitt Miller, with burial In Hillside Cemetery in Ossian, Iowa.
Visitation is on Friday, January 28, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
Memorials may be directed to Ossian Lutheran Church or Stavanger Lutheran Church, both of Ossian, Iowa
Kathreen Berthe Bradley was born January 19, 1921, in Ossian, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Marie (Horal) Gunderson. She graduated from Ossian High School with the Class of 1938 and graduated from Luther College in Decorah with the Class of 1942.
She was united in marriage with Elton R. Bradley on April 2, 1944, at the Ossian Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Kathryn, Janice, and James.
Following college, Katy taught in Elma, Iowa; Mabel, Minnesota; and was an eighth grade English teacher in Decorah, retiring at the age of 71. Katy loved to teach, and her teaching career spanned fifty years. Dedicating her life to her family and to education, she touched the lives of many people. She was also the bookkeeper at Bradley Auto Sales in Decorah for over fifty years, retiring at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gunder, and a son-in-law, Almen Larson.
Katy is survived by her husband, Elton, of Decorah; three children: Kathryn (David) Lee of Columbia, MD; Janice Larson of Kansas City, MO; and James (Mary) Bradley of Decorah, IA; seven grandchildren: Andrew Larson, Heidi Strien, Amy Maschka, Philip Lee, Matthew Lee, Kathreen Lee, and Justin Bradley; six great-grandchildren: Anna Strien, Kaiser Strien, Isaac Strien, Madeline Maschka, Maeson Maschka, and Tyler Lee.
