Donna Vine, age 73, of Decorah, IA, died on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Iowa, with Rev. Matt Larson presiding. Burial will be in the Russell Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Iowa. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Mae (Lovstuen) Vine was born on February 2, 1938, the daughter of Alert and Velva Lovstuen in Frankville Township. Donna moved as a child to Burr Oak, where she attended country school and graduated from Decorah High School in 1956. Donna married Alvin Vine on February 2, 1958 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church. To this union, six children were born: Jeff, Dave, Wanda, John, Pam and Tom. Donna worked at the coffee shop in Canton, MN and in 1964, they moved to Burr Oak. She also worked at Camcar, Minnowa Wire and for Rockwell Collins for twenty-one years. Donna always enjoyed her flower gardens, doing cross-stitch and looking at home designs. Above all, Donna loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church.

Donna is survived by her husband: Alvin Vine, Decorah, IA. Six children: Jeff Vine, Decorah, IA; Dave (Patti) Vine, Decorah, IA; Wanda (Dennis) Lawson, Decorah, IA; John (Lori) Vine, Zumbrota, MN; Pam (Randy) Renard, Cottage Grove, MN; and Tom (Cindy) Vine, Burr Oak, IA. Eight grandchildren: Traci (Joel) Ridgway, Shana (Evan) Meyer, Justin Lawson, Brittney Lawson, Max Vine, Katie Renard, Bobbie McDermott and Brittany McDermott. Two great grandchildren: Caleb Meyer and Nora Willson. Her mother: Velva Lovstuen, Mabel, MN. One brother: Norbert (Diane) Lovstuen, Burr Oak, IA. One sister: Vivian Vine, Mabel, MN. Four brothers-in-law: Harlan (Joann) Vine, Decorah, IA; Carleton (Mavis) Vine, Clarksville, TN; Eldon (Kathy) Vine, Clear Lake, IA; and Robert (Ruby) Vine, Blaine, MN, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her father: Alert Lovstuen in 1999. One sister-in-law: Marilyn (Durwin) Kallevang. One brother-in-law: Darrell Vine in 2009. Two nieces: Connie Wilson in 2009 and Peggy Vine in infancy. Her grandparents: Nels & Hilda Lovstuen and George & Cloa Kruse. Her father and mother-in-law: Theodore and Myrtle Vine.
