Lloyd Roland Loven, 92, went to be with the Lord Feb. 18, 2011, after a heart attack. A memorial service to celebrate his life was 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Oak Cliff Lutheran Church, Dallas, Texas.

Lloyd Loven was born in Decorah July 7, 1918, to Henry L. Loven and Clarisse B. Hendrickson Loven. He was baptized and confirmed in the Glenwood Lutheran Church. He attended Decorah High School.

Lloyd was a recent resident of Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Clifton, Texas. He was a member of Oak Cliff Lutheran Church, where he met and married his loving wife of 53 years, Susie. He served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations as a military policeman, 126th Field Artillery Battalion. Lloyd worked in the construction field as a skilled carpenter. He was a lifetime and charter member of the Norwegian Society of Texas. He helped build the Ormen Lange II ship and manned it in numerous parades all over Texas. He and Susie loved to perform – singing, dancing and bringing forth the Norwegian spirit everywhere, including travel to Norway. Lloyd and Susie were devoted in life and are now joined in eternal rest.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Louise Price Loven; his parents; his brother, Orval Loven; and his sister, Vivian Loven Niemann.
