Norva Landa, age 87, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Calmar, Iowa died on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at the Medical City Hospital in Dallas TX.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar and after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Norva Ruth Norman Landa was born December 11, 1917 in Cerro Gordo Co. to Frank W. and Stella (Booth) Norman. She graduated from Calmar High School, May 8,1936. Norva married William Landa on October 27, 1937 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. where they lived until moving to Calmar in 1946. They enjoyed traveling to Minnesota on their fishing trips. Norva enjoyed bowling, cooking (both at home and at South Winneshiek), crocheting, knitting, and sewing. In 2002 she moved to Texas where she made many friends and enjoyed playing bingo and going to her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas and St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar.

Survivors: Two daughters: Pat (Gerald) Timp, Calmar, IA; Liz (Dean) Meyer, Dallas, TX; Two sons: Bob (Pam) Landa, Dallas, TX; Jim (Eva) Landa, Jacksonville, FL; Daughter-in-law: Genny Landa of Dubuque, IA; twelve grandchildren: ten great grandchildren; sisters: Lorna Krob of Austin MN. and Wilma Madison Rice Lake WI; one brother: Bud Norman of Austin MN.

Norva was preceded in death by her Parents. Husband: William in 2001; one son: Don in 2004; three sisters: Gail Eppens, Reva Helm and Leona Johnson; Five brothers: Ivan, Floyd, Everett, Bruce and George.
