Agnes was born on June 29, 1905 in Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Edward and Carrie (Norby) Anderson. She attended the Tawney School in rural Mabel. She married Evelyn Burreson on October 31, 1931 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church. They made their home in Hesper, Iowa, where her husband was a teacher. He preceded her in death.
Agnes worked at Hanson Drug in Mabel. In 1952 she moved to Winona where she worked for McVey’s Ice Cream and for twenty years in the food service at Winona State University. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona where she had been active in WELCA and her Circle. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, embroidering, sewing, quilting, and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Agnes passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel at the age of 102.
Agnes is survived by a son Dennis (Pat) of Rochester; three grandchildren Kari (Terry) Schwab, Kathi (Tyson) Scrabeck, and Craig Burreson all of Rochester; and four great grandchildren Nathan and Lauren Schwab, and Gunnar and Stjan Scrabeck. She was preceded in death by her husband Evelyn; two sisters Amy Evenson and Sylvia Forde; and four brothers James, George, Elmer, and Alton.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
