Nora F. Gossman, 95, of Mabel, Minn., died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, at the St. Olaf Catholic Church in Mabel with Father Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Canton. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel assisted the family.

Nora was born May 17, 1915, in Eldorado, to Mathias and Mabel (Broe) Aslaksen. A graduate of Ossian High School, summer classes at Iowa State Teachers College and Luther College and correspondence courses from the University of Iowa, she taught in the rural schools of Winneshiek County for several years.

On April 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Roger F. Gossman at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton, Minn. They farmed in the Canton and Prosper and Hesper areas. In October 1989 they retired and moved into Mabel. Roger passed away May 4, 2004. Nora has been a resident at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home since 2004 where she had volunteered for many years. She was a member of the St. Olaf Catholic Church.

Nora is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; two sisters, Ann Kelly and Evelyn Hulett; and her brother, Donald Aslaksen.
