LEO FRANCIS KNOX

Leo was born May 25, 1915 at home on the original homestead in Burr Oak Township in Winneshiek County, Iowa to R. Emmett and Anna (Mullaney) Knox.
He attended the Canton Public School and lived and farmed all his life on the family farm with his two brothers Harold and Adrian, where the three men were locally known as “The Boys.” He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, managing the cattle, and later traveling around the world.

Leo passed away suddenly Saturday, September 29, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester at the age of 92.

Leo is survived by a brother Adrian of Burr Oak, Iowa; a sister Marjorie Horihan of Lanesboro, Minnesota; and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers John, Richard, Roger, and Harold; and two nephews.
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton, Minnesota with Father Donald P. Schmitz and Father Donald Hawes co-officiating. Burial will be in the St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Plymouth Rock, Cresco, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, Tuesday at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton and one hour prior to services at the church.

Funeral services for Leo F. Knox of Burr Oak, IA will be held at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton, MN with Father Donald P. Schmitz and Father Donald Hawes co-officiating. Interment will be in St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery in Plymouth Rock, rural Cresco, IA.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton and one hour prior to services at the church.

Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, MN is handling the arrangements.
