Frances Marie "Fran" Ryan, 94, of Rochester, Minn, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Eastern Star Home in Decorah, where she had resided the past 1 1/2 years. A Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at the Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony, Minn. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in St. Agnes Cemetery at Plymouth Rock.

Fran was born Aug. 16, 1916, on the family farm near Plymouth Rock to Frank and Me (Daley) Ryan. She worked in La Crosse, Wis. for 10 years, and then at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for 30 years until her retirement in 1981. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling with her sisters.

Fran is survived by her sister, Jane Headington, of Austin, Minn; brother-in-law, Donald DeCou, of Decorah; sisters-in-law Rose Ryan of Cedar Falls and Evelyn Ryan of Decorah; plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Harold, Ed and Layle Ryan; and five sisters: Phyllis McCabe, Mae Gossman, Doris Carr, Donna Whalen and Anna Grace DeCou.
