Jeanne Norma Meyer, 82, of Calmar, died Dec. 28, 2010 at her family home. A Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 31, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with Rev. Donald Hawes officiating. Organist was Jeanette Dietzenbach. Hymns were “Here I am, Lord,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “How Great Though Art” (St. Aloysius Choir). Special music was a Kenny Logins CD. Mass servers were Taylor Claman, Nate Meyer and Ben Meyer. Lector was Shelby Claman and Jordan Meyer. Offertory giftbearers were Alyssa Johnston and Brittney Claman. Honorary casket-bearers were Erik Peterson, Adam Loeffler, Wade Meyer, Jared Meyer, Carew Kalishek and Darin Kleve. Casket-bearers were Drew Meyer, Carson Meyer, Robert Claman, Jacob Meyer, Adam Meyer, Aaron Lukes and Travis Sawyer. Interment was at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Calmar. Arrangements were by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar.

Jeanne Norma Meyer was born at home in Calmar, April 8, 1928 to Rose (Korbel) and Louis Frana. She married Arnold Peter Meyer June 21, 1944 and moved to their farm northeast of Calmar. To this union 12 children were born. Jeanne was a loving wife and mother and a devoted friend. She worked at Walmart for over 21 years and was a dedicated and hardworking employee. She loved to sew and was proud to have made many quilts for her family. She loved dancing with Arnold and taking her many trips with her daughters that took her abroad to places like Italy, Germany, France, Scotland, Czechoslovakia and England. She was an avid golfer and a member of the South Winn Country Club and loved the many tournaments that she and Arnold golfed together. Jeanne was the only South Winn Country Club member to have three holes-in-one, the last one was when she was 80 years old.

Jeanne is survived by her 12 children: Doug (Darlene) Meyer, Calmar, Carole (Dick) Peterson, Weatherford, Texas, Bonnie (Sonny) Kalishek, New Hampton, Glenda (Don) Vrba, Protivin, Tracy (Don) Loeffler, Piano, Texas, Drew (Deb) Meyer, Mason City, Jacyn (Vitaly) Meyer, Westminster, Colo., Brian (Mary) Meyer, Calmar, Carson (Marie) Meyer, Groveport, Ohio, Dena Johnston, McKinney, Texas, Zoe (Joe Macey) Meyer, Dallas, Texas, Kelley (Robert) Claman, Calmar; 39 grandchildren: Sandy (Dave) Henning, Jessica (Jason) Kolbe, Kirsten (Dave) Rauch, Erik (Lisa) Peterson, Signe (Erik) Fourmy, Aaron (Missy) Lukes, Stacy (Gino) Nelson, Carew Kalishek, Tyler Kalishek, Kala Kalishek, Deon Sawyer, Travis (Jen) Sawyer, Adam Loeffler, Nathan (Ash) Loeffler, Brandy Diop, Yvonne Meyer, Wade Meyer, Adam Meyer, Maria (Audrey) Kovenko, Leonid Vaisberg, Daniel Vaisberg, Jacob Meyer, Jordan Meyer, Seth Meyer, Joshua Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Nathanial Meyer, Benjamin Meyer, Jamison Meyer, Brandy Selberg, Jennifer Sturgill, Meagan Meyer, Jared Meyer, Courtney Meyer, Alyssa Johnston, Shelby Claman, Taylor Claman, Sabrina Claman, Brittney Claman; 16 great-grandchildren: Danielle Henning, Emily Henning, McKenzie Kolbe, Stephanie Rauch, Desiree Flynn, Reese Peterson, Chloe Peterson, Austin Lukes, Alex Lukes, RaJa Nelson, Najee Nelson, Bella Sawyer-Ewing, Carson Sawyer, Quinn Sawyer and Briana Loeffler, Alexander Kovenko and many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Cloitel Kuennen, St. Lucas and Rosemary Shaber, Lewiston, Idaho; two brothers, John and David Frana, both of Decorah.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Peter Meyer; parents, Rose (Korbel) and Louis Frana; in-laws, Cecilia (Bodensteiner) and Adam Meyer; brother, Louis Frana Jr.; sisters, Genevieve Rose and Loretta (Norb) Ban; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Herman Kuennen, Ray (Joey) Meyer, Alois (Lit) Meyer, Evelyn (Eddie) Bullerman and Irene (Eddie) Einck; granddaughters, Bridget and Angel Meyer; nephews: Dean (Bear) Einck, Jerry Bullerman, Bruce Ban, Alan Meyer, Joel Meyer and Robert (Bobby) Meyer.

Jeanne leaves a legacy of her love for life and family and her love of the family farm. We will miss the sparkle in her eyes, her beaming smile and tender touch.
