Jane Holthaus Blair, age 64, of Miamisburg, OH, formerly of Decorah, Iowa, died on Monday, September 6, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of arrangements.

Jane Marie (Holthaus) Blair was born on February 5, 1946, the daughter of Raymond Anthony and Hilda Marie (Bohr) Holthaus in Decorah, Iowa. She received her education at St. Benedicts’ grade school in Decorah and graduated from DeSale’s Catholic High School in Ossian, IA, in 1964. She went to UNI for a year and then worked in Cedar Rapids. Jane married Douglas Blair on July 1, 1967, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah. They moved to San Antonio, TX, while Doug was in the Air Force. Jane worked as an office manager in a dental office for many years and in later years as a dental consultant. In 2000, they moved to Dayton, OH. Jane recently retired in March 2010, due to her declining health. Jane enjoyed playing cards and solitaire on the computer, sewing for her children, and watching national news. She also was an excellent cook and baker; making delicious pies for her family. Above all, Jane loved her family and especially her grandson, Colin. Jane was an active member of the Spiritual Group at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in McKinney, TX.

Jane’s survivors include her husband: Douglas Blair, Miamisburg, OH. Three children: Jennifer Blair, Plano, TX: Philip Blair, Plano, TX: and Katie (Mike) McConnell, McKinney, TX. One grandson: Colin McConnell and another grandson due in October 2010. Four brothers: Adrian (Sue) Holthaus; Willard (Mary Ellen) Holthaus; Ron (Lorraine) Holthaus; and Dave Holthaus, all of Decorah, IA. Five sisters: Inez (Dan) Schmitt, West Union, IA; Judy (Norbert) Bullerman, Calmar, IA; Pat Seiler, Decorah, IA; Connie Sande, LaCrosse, WI and Maxine (Karl) Klotzbach, Decorah, IA. One sister-in-law: Elaine Holthaus, Dubuque, IA. One Aunt and Godmother: Sister Marie Bohr, OSF, Dubuque, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond Holthaus in 1964 and Hilda Holthaus in 1987. Her brother: Ken Holthaus on Feb 1, 2010 and one niece: Teresa in 1961. Her mother-in-law: Phyllis Blair in 2005.
