Beloved Pioneer Mother Passed Away at Home on East Water Street Yesterday.

Death claimed another of our beloved pioneer mothers, Mrs. Geo. A. Pfister, who passed away yesterday, Tuesday morning, at her home on East Water Street, after a three days illness, having been confined to her bed that length of time. She had been in quite delicate health for several months.

Matilda Wilson was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wilson and was born in Illinois April 15, 1849. At the age of five years she moved with her parents to a farm south of Preston, Minn., and resided with her parents until she was married to Geo. A. Pfister, the ceremony taking place in Preston June 29, 1874, and they established their home on a farm at Locust. They retired a number of years ago, coming to Decorah where the family home has since been.

Two children were born to the union, A. P. Pfister, of Locust and G. W., of Preston, who with the bereaved husband survive.

Four years ago, June 1924, they celebrated their golden wedding.

Mrs. Pfister was a woman beloved by all her neighbors, and friends. She was possessed of high ideal which endeared her to all, and in her passing much sorrow is brought to all her friends. To the bereaved husband and sons much sympathy is extended.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran congregation at Locust.
