Funeral services for Carlton L. Klinkenberg, age 86, a retired Decorah farmer, were held February 21 at 11 a.m. at Washington Prairie Lutheran church with Pastor Richard P. Sansgaard officiating. Burial was in North Winneshiek Prairie Cemetery with Fjelstul Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Cecil Cook, Norman Dickman, Robert Dotseth, Paul Estrem, Peter Rocksvold, and Robert H. Sersland.

Carlton L. Klinkenberg, son of Anton "Pete" and Mina (Sandbeck) Klinkenberg, was born June 2, 1903 on the home farm in Winneshiek County, Iowa. He attended rural Winneshiek County Schools and farmed on the home farm until 1969 when he retired. He was a resident of the old Aase Haugen Home west of Decorah from 1969 until the fall of 1974 when that home closed. On November 2, 1974 he became a resident of Winneshiek County Facility, now Oneota Riverview Care Facility and has been a resident there up until his death.

Carlton died February 18, 1990 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by a sister May and a brother William Klinkenberg.

He is survived by several cousins, including Cora (Eldo) Krumme and Arla (Robert) Stuckman of Waukon, Iowa, Helen (C.A.) Seiple of Long Beach, California and Ethel (Alfred) Kvammen of Decorah, Iowa.
